Kenny Kurtz Scholarship
The Kenny Kurtz Scholarship was established in December, 2024
Biography of Kenny Kurtz
Kenny Kurtz committed his life to serve people behind bars, those who struggled with addiction, and ultimately, the Lord. He graduated in 1977 from Coral Park High School in Miami, Florida before attending and playing football at Ferrum College.
His career in prisons began after he earned an Associate of Arts in criminal justice administration from Miami Dade Community College. Kenny then worked for the Federal Bureau of Prisons as a correctional officer for several decades until his retirement.
A lifelong Christian, Kenny was active in Twelve Step ministries throughout his life, helping people come to terms with and recover from addiction.
This scholarship is dedicated to Kenny, who believed in the power of faith to heal and empower all of us—especially those grappling with crime, addiction, and incarceration.
